VENUE COST BRIEF | AMER ROAD, JAIPUR | UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

Most pages on this topic start with a price. We think the order is wrong. For Trident Jaipur there are two questions that matter more than the plate rate: is the hotel taking events right now, and how many guests can it really hold. Public sources disagree on both. This brief answers those first, then gives you a budget model you can adapt, and a negotiation plan for the day the hotel confirms availability.

If you would rather hand the venue comparison to specialists, our team of wedding planners in Jaipur can run Trident against other Amer Road and city options on the same terms. For the city-wide price picture, see our guide to destination wedding cost in Jaipur.

  • Closed? official Trident page says temporarily closed for upgradation
  • 80 vs 350: conflicting capacity claims
  • ₹2.2k–3.5k: reported per-plate range (single source)
  • ₹46.1 L: our 60-guest, 2-night estimate

Read this before you plan anything

  • Status: when we checked in October 2026, Trident's own Jaipur page carried the notice "temporarily closed for upgradation and will soon reopen", with no reopening date. Call the hotel and ask in writing whether it is accepting wedding bookings for your dates.
  • Capacity: one listing says the hotel is not set up for large weddings and tops out at 80 guests. A competitor blog says 300 to 350. Treat anything above 80 as unconfirmed until the events team sends a layout.
  • Prices: every plate and room rate we found comes from one agency blog, not the hotel. They are useful as a range, not as a quote.

What is actually known about the property

Trident Jaipur sits on Amer Road near Jal Mahal, looking over Man Sagar Lake toward the Aravalli hills, with Mughal-style gardens around it. The address is Amer Road, Jal Mahal, Amer, Jaipur 302002. Here is how the main facts line up across sources.

Fact What we found Confidence
Location Amer Road, by Jal Mahal; lake and Aravalli outlook High, consistent
Operating status Official page: temporarily closed for upgradation, no date High for the notice; ask for current status
Room count 140 rooms and suites (one FAQ), 137 (a trade listing, with a breakdown that sums to 139) Low; ask for a room list
Room types Garden-view, lake-view, two suites with separate living room Medium
Indoor event space Jaigarh and Nahargarh (about 40 guests each) and a combined option for about 80; boardroom about 25 Medium, from listings
Outdoor space Front lawns by the gardens; size and capacity not published Low
Pool and dining Heated pool, spa, Jal Mahal restaurant, Mansagar bar, Grills by the Pool Medium
Airport distance Listings say about 12 to 16 km Medium; plan 35 to 50 minutes at busy hours

The capacity question, answered honestly

Here are the four numbers in circulation, and what each one most likely means.

Claim Source type Most likely meaning
Up to 80 guests Venue listing article and trade listing The combined indoor hall (Jaigarh plus Nahargarh), roughly a 1,000 to 1,200 sq ft space
40 guests per room Trade listing A single hall in a meeting layout; banquet rounds hold fewer
Lawn: layout dependent Listing FAQ The lawn can host banquet rounds or cocktail standing, but no figure is published
300 to 350 guests Agency blog; a listing FAQ mentions a large hall that does not appear in the space list Possibly lawn plus a large hall, or a hall name from a different configuration; unverified

What to do with this: ask the events team for a written layout for your guest count, with the exact space for each function and the rain or cold fallback. A 250-guest sangeet on a lawn that is only drawn for cocktail standing is a very different night from rounds for 250.

A rule of thumb for lawns

Banquet rounds typically need around 15 to 18 sq ft per guest of seated floor, plus stage, buffet and service lanes. A lawn that "holds 300 standing" may only seat 150 to 180 comfortably with a dance floor and a stage.

The published price signals, reconciled

The competitor page we benchmarked gives the following figures. We list them with what they imply and where they stop making sense.

Published item Figure Our reading
Venue rental ₹2.5 to 4 L Plausible for a basic lawn setup; confirm if it covers lighting, power and security
Veg plate ₹2,200 to 3,200 Typical five-star range; ask if tax and service charge are extra
Non-veg plate ₹2,500 to 3,500 As above
Room per night ₹12,000 to 18,000 Peak-season lake-view range; ask for a group rate
Décor and theme ₹5 to 15 L Wide; depends on the lawn build
Per person starting ₹4,000 to 6,000 Higher than the plate range, so it likely includes extras; unclear
Total for 150 to 200 guests ₹35 to 50 L Implies ₹17,500 to ₹33,000 per guest; does not say if rooms are included

Two things break the logic. First, the plate range (₹2,200 to 3,500) and the per-person start (₹4,000 to 6,000) cannot both be the food price. Second, 150 to 200 guests exceeds the hotel's 80-guest hall capacity in the listing we found, so that total only works if a large lawn layout is confirmed and the cost per guest is explained. We use the plate range as a planning input and treat the totals as unverified.

Budget by wedding shape

Rather than one headline number, we model three realistic shapes for a Trident-type venue. Assumptions: 2 nights, rooms at ₹15,000 per night, plate at ₹3,000, 18% tax on rooms, food and venue (confirm what applies), vendor costs scaled to size, and a 10% contingency. These are estimates, not quotes.

Line Micro, 40 guests Boutique, 60 guests Full hall, 80 guests
Rooms booked (2 nights) 18 28 38
Meals per guest 3 4 4
Venue fee ₹2.5 L ₹3.0 L ₹4.0 L
Room cost ₹5.4 L ₹8.4 L ₹11.4 L
Food ₹3.6 L ₹7.2 L ₹9.6 L
Tax on hotel lines ₹2.1 L ₹3.3 L ₹4.5 L
Décor ₹4.0 L ₹7.0 L ₹10.0 L
Entertainment ₹1.5 L ₹2.5 L ₹3.0 L
Photo and video ₹2.5 L ₹3.5 L ₹4.5 L
Make-up and styling ₹0.8 L ₹1.0 L ₹1.2 L
Licences, logistics, baraat, pandit ₹1.5 L ₹2.0 L ₹2.5 L
Planning ₹3.0 L ₹4.0 L ₹5.0 L
10% contingency ₹2.7 L ₹4.2 L ₹5.6 L
All-in ₹29.6 L ₹46.1 L ₹61.3 L
Per guest ₹0.74 L ₹0.77 L ₹0.77 L

Notice the per-guest figure: about ₹0.74 to ₹0.77 lakh across all three shapes, which is higher than the ₹17,500 to ₹33,000 per guest implied by the agency's 150 to 200 guest range. Three reasons explain most of the gap: our model includes two nights of rooms with tax, it assumes four meals a guest, and at 40 to 80 guests the fixed costs (décor, photography, planning) are spread over fewer people. If a quote for a large guest list looks far below this, ask exactly what it leaves out.

The "stay here, celebrate elsewhere" option

If your list is 150 or more, the practical path is to use Trident for what a hotel does best, which is rooms and one dinner, and host the main functions at a venue sized for the crowd. A rough anchor: 45 rooms for 2 nights plus one dinner for 80 at the plate rate above, with tax, comes to about ₹18.8 L. Add the main venue, catering, décor and vendors from that venue's own quote. Our destination wedding cost in Jaipur page helps you sanity-check those other lines.

What moves a Trident budget most

Lever Change Effect on the 60-guest budget
Plate rate +₹500 per plate +₹1 L
Room rate +₹3,000 per night +₹2 L
Add one more night Rooms plus a dinner +₹7 L or more
Décor ambition ±₹3 L ±₹3 L directly
Guest count +10 guests +₹3 L for rooms and food

Function-by-function plan for a 60-guest Trident wedding

A hotel lawn wedding is not one event; it is a chain of functions that each use a different part of the property. Here is how we would split the ₹46.1 L boutique model, so you can see what each evening is really buying.

Function Share Estimate What drives it
Arrival and welcome lunch 10% ₹4.6 L Garden or poolside; lighter décor, local menu, check-in handled by the hotel
Mehendi (afternoon) 14% ₹6.5 L Garden corner with Aravalli backdrop; folk artists, chai and chaat counters
Sangeet 24% ₹11.1 L Hall or lawn depending on confirmed capacity; stage, sound, choreography
Wedding ceremony and dinner 34% ₹15.7 L Sunset-timed mandap with lake light; main dinner; photography peak
Stay, transfers, contingency 18% ₹8.3 L Room block, airport pickups, 10% buffer

Compared with a heritage lawn, a hotel gives you reliable power, washrooms, kitchen and housekeeping, so the contingency here goes to weather and décor rather than to infrastructure. That is the real trade-off with a hotel venue: less risk, less freedom.

Décor, light and photography at a lake-view hotel

  • Let the backdrop work. The hills and lake outlook are the free décor. Spend on lighting, florals at eye level and a clean mandap rather than heavy structures.
  • Golden hour is a budget item. If the ceremony must be at an auspicious time outside sunset, plan lighting to recreate warmth and budget accordingly.
  • Two photo teams are usually enough for 60 to 80 guests: one candid, one traditional, plus a drone only if the hotel and local rules allow it.
  • Ask about approvals. Listings note that elaborate décor, floral installations and lighting rigs are subject to hotel approval. Share your design early.
  • Pool and garden areas are great for mehendi and pre-wedding shoots, but check whether guests in rooms will be disturbed by evening sound.

Site-visit checklist (use this when the hotel reopens)

Check What to look for
Walk the lawn at your event time Sun angle, wind, lake smell, mosquito control, cold spots
Measure and map Ask for a CAD or a tape-measured plan; mark stage, dance floor, buffet, bar and service lanes
Power Where the supply is, load limits, backup generator and noise
Rooms See the lake-view and garden-view types, AC, noise at night, connecting rooms for families
Kitchen and service Distance from kitchen to lawn, how food stays hot, live-counter space
Washrooms and green rooms Number near the lawn, a bridal room for make-up and changing
Parking and arrival How many cars, valet, where buses stop, baraat entry
Weather fallback Covered space, capacity, how fast it can be set up
Renovation status Which spaces are new, which are still under work, finish dates in writing

If the hotel reopens after an upgrade: what to expect

A hotel that closes for an upgrade usually reopens with refreshed rooms, spaces and, very often, a new rate card. We cannot predict Trident's, but plan for the following.

  • Rates may rise. Treat the ₹12,000 to 18,000 room range and ₹2,200 to 3,500 plate range as pre-upgrade signals, not a ceiling.
  • Event spaces may change. Capacities, lawn layouts and even hall names can differ. Ask for fresh floor plans.
  • Launch offers are possible. Newly reopened hotels sometimes offer introductory packages. Ask, but verify what is excluded.
  • Teething problems. Staff and systems may still be settling in the first months. Add buffer time for vendor coordination.
  • Get written dates. Any hold you pay for should state what happens if reopening slips.

Protect your advance

If you pay a booking amount while the hotel is closed or just reopened, ask for: (1) the reopening date written into the contract, (2) a full refund if the date slips beyond a set limit, and (3) the right to change the date once without penalty.

Three sample itineraries

A: The 2-day intimate wedding (40 to 60 guests)

  • Day 1, afternoon: welcome lunch by the pool. Evening: mehendi and a small sangeet in the hall.
  • Day 2, morning: haldi in the garden. Sunset: pheras at the lawn with the lake behind. Night: dinner and a short reception.

B: The 3-day boutique wedding (60 to 80 guests)

  • Day 1: arrival, welcome dinner at Grills by the Pool or the lawn.
  • Day 2: mehendi, sangeet in the combined hall.
  • Day 3: haldi, baraat within the grounds, pheras, reception.

C: Hotel for the stay, venue elsewhere (150+ guests)

  • Day 1: welcome dinner for 80 at Trident, with the rest of guests at another venue.
  • Day 2 and 3: sangeet and wedding at a venue sized for the full list, with shuttles from the hotel.
  • Budget anchor from Part 4: about ₹18.8 L for the Trident part.

Quote audit: line items to demand

Line Ask for Why
Venue fee Per function, per day, and what it covers Some hotels charge per function
Food Per-plate price by menu, tax, service charge Headline rates often exclude them
Minimum guarantee Guests or ₹ value, last change date Defines what you pay if guests drop
Rooms Tariff by type, taxes, breakfast, group discount Rooms are one of the largest lines
Décor Approved vendor list, fees for outside vendors Controls your design freedom
Sound and curfew Cut-off time and overtime rate Affects sangeet planning
Liquor Permit responsibility, bar charges, corkage Easy to under-budget
Payment and refunds Schedule, date-change rules, force majeure Protects you if plans change

Who should choose Trident, and who should not

A strong fit

  • Couples with 40 to 80 guests who want a hotel's reliability and a lake-and-hills backdrop.
  • Families who want one property for rooms, food and the ceremony.
  • Weddings where guest comfort and a single point of contact matter more than total design freedom.

Think twice

  • Guest lists above 100 without a confirmed lawn layout.
  • Couples who want to bring every vendor and build a fully custom set.
  • Anyone who needs a firm date and price now while the hotel's status is unclear.

The Jal Mahal setting: what it gives and what it demands

  • Sunset and lake light. A ceremony timed to the golden hour makes the best use of the lake outlook. Plan sunset times by month: they swing by about two hours between mid-winter and summer.
  • Amer Road traffic. This is a tourist corridor. Weekend and holiday traffic toward Amer Fort can slow guest and vendor arrivals. Run a test drive and schedule vendor load-in off peak hours.
  • Baraat limits. A procession with horse, band or vintage cars is usually negotiated within the grounds. Ask where it can start and whether road access is allowed.
  • Sound and fireworks. Outdoor music commonly ends around 10 to 11 PM under local rules; fireworks need prior authorisation. Confirm the hotel's cut-off in writing.
  • Weather cover. Winter evenings are cold on a lawn; monsoon needs a covered fallback. Ask for the fallback space and its capacity.

Negotiation playbook

When the hotel confirms events, use this order.

  1. Ask for status and dates first. Reopening date, which spaces are available and which are under renovation.
  2. Get a space-by-function layout. Seated and standing capacity for each function, with stage and dance floor drawn in.
  3. Request an itemised quote. Venue fee, plate rates by menu, tax, service charge, room tariffs and what is included in each.
  4. Ask for a room-block deal. Group rate, free rooms for a set number booked, early check-in and late check-out, and a release date.
  5. Clarify the vendor policy. Whether outside décor, caterers or DJs are allowed, and what each costs.
  6. Negotiate the payment schedule. Advance, milestones, refund and date-change terms, and force majeure for weather.
  7. Get it in a contract. Verbal assurances on capacity or timings do not count.

Questions that save lakhs

  • Does the venue fee include power, lighting, security and housekeeping, or are they extra?
  • Is there a minimum food guarantee, and is it by guest or by rupee value?
  • What is the overtime charge after the music cut-off?
  • Can we use our own décor team, and is there an entry fee?

Hidden costs to put on the quote

  • Service charge and tax on food, rooms and venue.
  • Outside-vendor entry fee or damage deposit.
  • Generator or extra power for lighting rigs.
  • Staff and artist accommodation.
  • Liquor permit and bar service charges.
  • Extra room nights for family arriving early.
  • Weather fallback: tents, heaters or cooling.
  • Transfers from the airport and between hotels.

Let's Create Your Dream Wedding

If Trident is closed or too small

If the hotel is still closed for your dates, or your guest list is beyond 80 without a confirmed lawn layout, the sensible move is to benchmark two or three other Jaipur options early rather than wait. Choose on the same four tests: confirmed capacity in writing, rooms on site, vendor freedom and total cost per guest. A destination wedding planner in Jaipur can run those tests across venues in a week and give you a like-for-like sheet, which is usually faster than chasing each hotel separately.

Planning timeline

When What to lock
10 to 12 months before Confirm the hotel is open for events; hold dates; room block
6 to 8 months Layout, menu, décor concept, photographer, entertainer
3 to 4 months Permits, transfers, guest list, vendor contracts
4 to 6 weeks Final count, run sheets, power and sound plan
Last week Vendor briefs, weather decision, on-site checks
